Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jericho Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Ridgway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary Ridgway has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jericho Hill's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jericho Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gary Ridgway!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Ridgway scores with a body shot.
Ridgway fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Ridgway throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ridgway misses the shot to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Hill on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
That kick from Ridgway tenderised Hill's leg. Hill is trying to keep his angry face on.
Ridgway takes a kick to the side of the head.
Hill ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ridgway moves away.
Hill connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Ridgway ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Ridgway scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hill is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ridgway bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

and Hill counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Hill stuffs the takedown attempt from Ridgway. Ridgway gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ridgway throws out a counter right but Hill avoids it with no problem.

and Hill cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A left and a right from Hill both land. Nice combination.
Hill fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ridgway has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hill checks a leg kick.
Ridgway slips a jab from Hill.
Ridgway looks for the body kick but Hill saw that one coming.
Hill blocks the body kick.
Hill fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ridgway manages to avoid it.
Ridgway jabs Hill to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hill throws a hook to the side of Ridgway's head but Ridgway sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Ridgway steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hill. That one must have hurt.
Ridgway misses with a straight left.
Hill checks a leg kick.
Hill misses with a looping right.
Hill fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Hill misses with a right hand
and Hill takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hill dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ridgway. That did some damage!

Hill avoids a kick to the body.
Ridgway slips under a jab.
Ridgway scores with a leg kick.
Hill is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
A low kick from Ridgway misses
and Hill counters with a nice uppercut.
Ridgway explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Ridgway throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Hill avoids the head kick by Ridgway.
Ridgway on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ridgway gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hill.
Ridgway takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Ridgway looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ridgway shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Jericho Hill will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

We've been hearing good reports from Hill's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hill is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ridgway is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Hill lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Ridgway shoots in and bounces Hill off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ridgway slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Ridgway is nestled in close to Hill, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Ridgway lands with a punch from half guard.

Ridgway is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hill defends it well.
Hill regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hill wants to sweep but no luck.
Ridgway throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hill works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hill is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ridgway is looking to control Hill's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ridgway avoid being mounted?

Ridgway looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Hill pushes past his half guard into mount!

Hill pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

I would just about give that final round to Gary Ridgway.
I think Ridgway has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
