Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Willie Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Durez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Willie Norris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Omar Durez!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Durez drives through with a takedown into guard.

Norris has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Durez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Durez feints and as Norris raises his hands in defense, Durez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Norris seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Durez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Norris pushes Durez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Omar Durez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Durez!
Norris misses with a takedown attempt - Durez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Durez is looking to chop away at Norris's legs.
Norris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Norris circles away from the clinch attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Norris on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
No luck for Norris with that takedown attempt.
Good standup being displayed there by Durez as he connects with a hook.

Durez tries to clinch there but Norris circles away.

Durez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Norris did well to prevent Durez getting side control.

Norris pushes Durez off and gets back to his feet.
A punch lands to the side of Norris 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Durez misses with a series of wild punches.
Norris went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Durez stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Willie Norris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Norris closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Norris moves forwards but Durez connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Durez tries to clinch up
and Norris counters with a three punch combo that has Durez backing up. Durez nods at Norris to acknowledge the strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Norris takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Durez throws a jab but it's blocked by Norris.
Durez lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Durez misses with a wild combination.

Durez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Norris to the mat! Norris manages to get full guard.

Norris uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Durez looks winded!
Durez listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Norris darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Norris controlling the pace.

Norris seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Durez for as long as he can get away with.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Durez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Omar Durez will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Durez fails in his attempt to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Norris.

Norris darts in and clinches Durez up against the cage.
Durez lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Norris backwards.
Norris changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Durez fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Durez is looking to clinch.
A nice inside leg kick there by Durez. That's going to slow Norris down.

Durez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Norris kicks off Durez and gets to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Durez tries to close the distance and clinch but Norris swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Norris keeps the fight on the outside.
Omar Durez seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Durez misses the jab.
Durez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Durez fails with an attempt to clinch.

Durez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Norris sneaks out the side door and pushes Durez away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Durez is breathing heavily.

Norris gets a double leg takedown into Durez's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Norris controls from within his opponent's guard.
Norris's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Further stalling from Norris.
Norris continues to stall.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Durez wants to control the position but Norris says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Norris with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Durez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Norris.
Durez tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Durez tries to improve his position but instead Norris has taken his back!
Durez is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Norris.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Willie Norris dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Norris changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Durez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Durez seems a little lost for a moment, as Norris dominates the positioning.
Durez is looking for a sweep.
Norris takes a little break here. Durez wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Durez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Norris is stinking the place up with his stalling.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Norris has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Durez is looking to clinch but Norris is avoiding it.

Norris drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Norris ducks right into an uppercut from Durez.

Durez gets caught flat footed, as Norris shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Willie Norris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Norris controls from within his opponent's guard.

Durez is working an open guard so Norris takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Norris avoids a punch combination nicely.
A counter left hand to the body from Norris misses its target.

Norris shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Durez defends it nicely.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Willie Norris.
I think Norris has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
