PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derek Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Gramacho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patterson's entrance music is Hotel Service Room. A fine choice. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gramacho shoots in and drives through. Patterson sprawls well.
Gramacho looks for a takedown but Patterson sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Gramacho or perhaps it was just good defense by Patterson which made him look bad.
Derek Patterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugo Gramacho.
Gramacho shoots in looking for a takedown. Patterson tries to sprawl out of it but Gramacho keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Patterson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gramacho changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Patterson tries to avoid it but Gramacho manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Patterson to the ground. Patterson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gramacho paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gramacho shoots for a takedown but Patterson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gramacho looks gassed!

Patterson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Patterson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Patterson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Patterson is looking to take a break and control but Gramacho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Patterson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Patterson has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gramacho!

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Gramacho looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Patterson! Submission of the night perhaps?
