The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orosco tries to clinch but deSouza is having none of it.
deSouza misses with an uppercut
and Orosco counters with a good low kick that deSouza was not able to check.
Orosco closes the distance looking to clinch
and deSouza counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by deSouza.
Orosco is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. deSouza presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

deSouza lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
It looks like Billy Orosco has been cut.

deSouza is nestled in close to Orosco, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

deSouza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
deSouza takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

deSouza working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Well, if deSouza is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
deSouza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Orosco does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Orosco seems a little lost for a moment, as deSouza dominates the positioning.
deSouza scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Orosco is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and deSouza can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
