Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dany Wag!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Wickes!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wickes fails to land with a series of punches.
Wickes checks the leg kick.
Wickes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wag avoids it really well and circles away.
Wag tries for a takedown but Wickes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ryan Wickes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wickes fails with the takedown
and Wag counters with a two punch combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wag throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wag scores with a shot to the body.
Wickes pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Wag has closed the distance and engaged Wickes in a clinch.

Wickes manages to break the clinch.

Wag decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

It looks like Ryan Wickes has been cut.
Wickes throws a combination that misses
and Wickes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Wickes tries to keep at a distance but Wag has taken the fight into the clinch.
Wag can't find room to land a body shot as Wickes controls the action.

Wag breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wickes.
Dany Wag has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Wickes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wickes pressing his opponent against the cage.
Wag has Wickes pushed against the cage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Wickes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wag throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wickes is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Wag with a body shot.
Wag shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Wickes eats them both and turns towards Wag to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Wickes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wag tries to keep at a distance but Wickes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Wag is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wickes pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Wag cracks Wickes with a nice body shot.
Wag tries to work over Wickes's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Ryan Wickes's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Wag connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wag scores with a three punch combo!

Wickes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wickes jumps guard but Wag stands there with Wickes around his waist. Wickes gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Wickes misses with a punch to the body.
Wag misses with a punch to the body.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Wag's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Wickes forces Wag back against the cage and clinches.
Wag drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wickes pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wickes tries for a takedown but Wag sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wickes attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Wag throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wickes was covering up waiting for the punch and Wag finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wag is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wickes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wag. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wag's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wag content to stall in guard here.
Wickes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Wag wants to control from the top but Wickes keeps moving.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Wag is really struggling to control Wickes but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
We've been informed that Wickes has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Wag fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Wickes just misses with a punch to the body.
Wag shoots for a double leg takedown but Wickes sprawls well. He's pushed Wag's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Wickes is looking for a takedown.

Wickes manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Wickes has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wag is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Wickes just misses with a elbow thrown towards Wag's brow.

Wickes is not content to let Wag control the position.

Wag is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wickes is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wickes is looking to regain half guard here but Wag keeps moving and retains side control.
Wag is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wickes can do to turn this around?
Wag wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wickes keeps working.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Wickes gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Wag decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Wickes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wag.
Wag looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Wickes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dany Wag. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wag lands a jab to Wickes's midsection.

Wickes tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wag just stands there and leans against the cage.

Wag is trying to maintain a safe position but Wickes gets an underhook and turns Wag into the cage.

Dany Wag is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Wag has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
