PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tito Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tod Paris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into the arena with Rise of the Northstar - Sound of Wolves blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Tito Jones has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tito Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tod Paris!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paris has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.
Paris managing to block the knees to the body from Jones.

Paris lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Paris looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jones is not content to let Paris control the position.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Jones manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Paris working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jones's head.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paris swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Jones wants to control from the top but Paris keeps moving.

Paris lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Paris won't allow Jones to get back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Paris prevents Jones from getting back to his feet.

Paris postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Paris content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Paris is controlling him.

Paris stands up over Jones, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Paris dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Paris's head and hops out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Paris manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Paris tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Paris shoots in but no luck this time.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Paris sits in half guard.
Jones is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Paris's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Paris's back!

Jones looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Paris is controlling Jones 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones wants to stand and escape but Paris is having none of it.

Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Paris does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Paris is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jones pulls his head out easily.

Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Paris will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Tito Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tod Paris.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Paris pushes him off.

Paris closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Jones is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Paris has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tito Jones will probably get the nod.

Jones misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Paris gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Paris's head.
Paris moves into full guard.
Paris has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Jones has passed into side control.
Paris is looking for a sweep.

Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Paris has escaped the position, nice work there.

You can see the frustration on Paris's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Paris is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Paris is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Paris can do anything to dispel that myth.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Paris is concentrating on defense, preventing Jones from advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Paris forces Jones back against the ropes and clinches.

Paris wants the takedown. Jones is fighting it off but Paris persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jones's guard against the ropes.

Paris cracks Jones with a solid left hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tito Jones.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Tito Jones rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
