Kronin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rocking from Riga. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe McJoe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Kronin!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McJoe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

McJoe gets the takedown into side control.
Kronin parries the strikes from McJoe easily there. McJoe is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kronin to escape.
McJoe wants to take a breather but Kronin manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for McJoe.
McJoe looking to pass the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McJoe is standing up over Kronin. Kronin looks to escape but McJoe dives into side control.

McJoe thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kronin tries to buck McJoe off but McJoe is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McJoe wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kronin, who protects the arm well.
McJoe trying to control the position but Kronin is working away.
McJoe throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

McJoe thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

McJoe goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kronin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in McJoe's guard! Nice work there by Kronin!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McJoe wants to improve his position but instead Kronin has moved into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kronin in particular looking to stall.
McJoe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
McJoe wants to control but Kronin is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McJoe tries to roll over but Kronin keeps him under control.
Kronin tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
McJoe is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kronin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kronin's back!
You can see the frustration on Kronin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Kronin defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of McJoe's arms.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McJoe misses with an elbow to the head.

McJoe is persistently looking for the submission but Kronin is defending it well.
McJoe trying to control momentarily.
McJoe has the hooks in. Kronin is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

McJoe working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Kronin is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and McJoe has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Kronin taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joe McJoe!
