The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dugald uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Howard.
Howard throws a big shot that misses.
Howard fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dugald manages to avoid it.
Howard misses with an uppercut. Dugald saw that one coming.
Howard misses with a hook.
Howard throws a hook to the side of Dugald's head but Dugald sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Howard takes a swing at Dugald's ribcage but misses.
Dugald uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Howard.
Dugald shoots for a double leg takedown but Howard sprawls well. He's pushed Dugald's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gilliam Howard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howard misses with an uppercut. Dugald saw that one coming.
Dugald moves out of range as Howard strikes.
Howard clobbers Dugald with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Wenzeslaus Dugald has been cut.
Dugald tries to close the distance and clinch but Howard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Dugald drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Howard is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dugald is controlling him well.
Howard tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Howard is trying to get back to half guard.

Dugald is trying to get an arm triangle but Howard is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dugald works to advance to full mount. Howard defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Howard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dugald on the ground.

Howard has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Dugald is looking for the choke from the back position but Howard is controlling his hands well.

Howard defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Dugald's arms.
You can see the frustration on Howard's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Howard is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Dugald has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Howard is looking to defend but Dugald has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Howard! Dugald pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Howard taps out and this one is all over!
