Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lee Mtagwa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Henry Irons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lee Mtagwa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Henry Irons!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mtagwa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Lee Mtagwa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mtagwa misses with a wild combination.
Mtagwa cracks Irons with a good jab.
Mtagwa looks to throw the jab but Irons is out of range.
Mtagwa misses with a wild combination.
Irons throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mtagwa's waist but Mtagwa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Irons off to one side.
Mtagwa thows a body shot but no joy.
Mtagwa throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mtagwa scores with a nice right hand.


It looks like John Henry Irons has been cut.
Irons ducks under a wild hook from Mtagwa.

Irons fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mtagwa sprawls well initially but Irons persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mtagwa won't allow Irons to pass to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Irons missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Irons performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Irons has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Irons passes into side control, despite Mtagwa's attempt to control the position.

Irons is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mtagwa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mtagwa stops Irons from passing to mount.
Irons wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mtagwa keeps working.

Irons tries for a kimura but Mtagwa is defending well.
Irons works to advance to full mount. Mtagwa defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Irons can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mtagwa is looking to escape.

Irons is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mtagwa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Poor strikes thrown by Irons there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Mtagwa wants to hold on but Irons pushes him away.

Irons goes for an armbar but Mtagwa turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mtagwa.
Irons has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Irons will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Irons throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Mtagwa sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Irons has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mtagwa has passed into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on John Henry Irons's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mtagwa throws out a loose jab but Irons uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lee Mtagwa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mtagwa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mtagwa scores with a nice head shot.
Irons fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Irons closes the distance and clinches up with Mtagwa, looking for a takedown. Irons pushes Mtagwa against the cage but Mtagwa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Irons fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lee Mtagwa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Henry Irons.
Mtagwa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Irons.
Mtagwa connects with a superb combination that knocks Irons out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Mtagwa before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Irons!
