Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between General Zod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zod's entrance music is Kneel Before Zod. A fine choice. Jones has chosen Everybody Knows as his entrance music. The key to victory for General Zod has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zod closes the distance and clinches.

Jones has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Zod is trying to keep an underhook but Jones manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Zod's temple.
Jones not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jones landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Zod is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jones tries to clinch up but Zod circles away and keeps his distance.

Zod clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage.
Jones stops a takedown attempt from Zod.
Jones can't get the takedown.
Zod blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Zod pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Zod shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Zod wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zod sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Zod manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Zod is breathing heavily.

Zod drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.
Jones fails to pull guard.
Jones has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Zod is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
General Zod has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Jones.
Zod makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Jones tries for a takedown but Zod manages to get underhooks.
Zod tries to score a body lock takedown but Jones shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Zod breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Zod clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage.

Jones turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zod, who protects the arm well.
The strikes coming from Jones are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Zod tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jones wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Zod is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that General Zod will probably get the nod.
That's time! Zod's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Zod closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard.

Zod postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jones is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zod, into his guard.

Zod is looking to improve his position but Jones isn't that keen on the idea.

Zod is in a horrible position here. Jones smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Zod is wriggling around trying to escape.

Zod sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
