The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shears throws a jab but it's blocked by Sliva.
Sliva takes a jab right on the kisser.
Shears connects with a jab.

It looks like Gustavo Sliva has been cut.
Shears lands with a cross.
Sliva walks into a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sliva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shears.

Sliva has an active guard here but Shears has managed to pass into half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Shears content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Shears looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Sliva is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Shears pulls his head out easily.

Sliva is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Shears scores with a couple of nice shots.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Shears lands a nice short elbow.
Shears is trying to control the action in half guard but Sliva is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Shears is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Sliva is staying active underneath Shears, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Shears uses his free foot to push down on Sliva's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sliva.
Sliva tries to reverse the position but Shears maintains control.

Gustavo Sliva's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
