PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Orwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phill Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Orwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Phill Adams!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orwell throws a leg kick that is checked
and Adams counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Danga de danga de dang - Orwell scores with a four punch combination!
Adams misses with a takedown attempt - Orwell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Orwell went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Orwell has taken the fight to the clinch.
Adams jumps guard but Orwell stands there with Adams around his waist. Adams gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Orwell pulls guard successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Orwell pulls Adams in close to his closed guard and prevents Adams from doing any damage or advancing position.

Adams trying to control but Orwell is working from the bottom.
Adams working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Orwell pushes Adams off and gets back to his feet.
Adams darts in looking for a takedown but Orwell gets double underhooks and turns Adams into the cage.
George Orwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phill Adams.

Adams changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Orwell throws a series of punches but Adams moves out of range.

Adams is looking to clinch but Orwell is avoiding it.
Adams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Orwell swivels and escapes.

Orwell lands a left and a right that send Adams crashing to the mat, dazed. Orwell thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Phill Adams has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Orwell tries for a takedown but Adams circles away easily
enabling Adams to counter with a crisp jab.
Orwell looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
George Orwell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Orwell darts in and clinches Adams up against the cage.

Orwell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Orwell misses with a head kick.
A head kick misses from Orwell.
Adams stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Adams wants it to stay on the feet.
Orwell is breathing heavily.
Orwell moves in looking to clinch but Adams pushes him off.

Adams shoots in looking for a takedown. Orwell tries to sprawl out of it but Adams keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Orwell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Orwell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Orwell counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Orwell.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Adams is defended easily by Orwell.

Orwell shoots in for a double leg but Adams sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Orwell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Adams.
Adams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Orwell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Adams somewhat.

Adams chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Orwell can pounce on him.

Adams has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Orwell after a bit of a struggle.

Orwell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Adams avoids it really well and circles away.

and Orwell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Orwell jumps guard and drags Adams to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Orwell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Adams wanted to stand there but Orwell had control of the position.

Adams is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Adams would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Adams wants to control from the top but Orwell keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Orwell has Adams up against the cage in a clinch.
Adams is trying to break the clinch but Orwell is controlling him.
Adams tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Orwell smiles and moves away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Orwell smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Adams fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Orwell is looking for a counter combo.
Orwell lands a head kick. Adams smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Adams uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Orwell.
Orwell scores with the left hand. Adams knows he should have avoided that one.

and Adams counters with a stiff right hand.

Adams gets tackled into the cage by Orwell. Orwell maintains the clinch.

Orwell fails to pull guard.
Orwell is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Adams gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Orwell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Adams wants to clinch up but Orwell keeps it at a distance.

Orwell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Orwell moves into range and clinches up with Adams.
Adams is looking to take this one to the mat.
Adams has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Orwell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Orwell manages to break the clinch.
Adams tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Orwell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Orwell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Orwell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
