The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rod circles away quickly and effectively.
Rod closes the distance and clinches up with Carter, looking for a takedown. Rod pushes Carter against the ropes but Carter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Carter digs a good hook to Rod's body.
Carter scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Gilbert Rod seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carter lands a two punch combo.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rod.
Carter lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carter.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rod takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Rod is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Carter's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Rod maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Carter could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Rod has cracked it and Carter is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Rod!
