Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladislav Vasilevsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Mason!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Vasilevsky swivels and escapes.
Vasilevsky is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Vasilevsky fails with a takedown attempt.
Mason circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vasilevsky looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mason is fending him off so far but Vasilevsky persists. Nope, Mason circles away and we're back to standing.
Vasilevsky shoots in looking for a takedown. Mason tries to sprawl out of it but Vasilevsky keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mason manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vladislav Vasilevsky. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vasilevsky looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mason is fending him off so far but Vasilevsky persists. Nope, Mason circles away and we're back to standing.
Mason tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Vasilevsky looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Vasilevsky fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mason.
Vasilevsky moves in looking to clinch but Mason pushes him off.
Vasilevsky doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Mason counters with a shoot takedown. Vasilevsky fights it but they end up in guard.

and Mason counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vasilevsky won't be happy with that.
Vasilevsky is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mason tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Mason really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vasilevsky. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vasilevsky wants to get back to his feet but Mason drags him back down.

Mason tries to move to mount but Vasilevsky blocks the move with his legs.
Vasilevsky is trying to improve his position.
Mason misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
You can see the frustration on Vasilevsky's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mason wants to take a breather but Vasilevsky manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Mason.

Vasilevsky is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mason is aware though and is defending well.

Vasilevsky escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mason gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Vasilevsky can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mason controls the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Vasilevsky misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Vasilevsky wants to stand back up but Mason manages to pass into side control.

Mason will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Vasilevsky feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mason has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Mason shoots in and drives through. Vasilevsky sprawls well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mason in particular looking to stall.

Mason controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vasilevsky accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mason fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
As Mason backs away, Vasilevsky returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Vasilevsky connects with a solid leg kick.

Mason bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mason is trying to get an arm triangle but Vasilevsky is defending well.
Vasilevsky can't do much from the bottom here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vasilevsky is looking for a sweep.

Vladislav Vasilevsky showed his dominance in that final round.
