PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Judo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolai Nation (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nikolai Nation struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nikolai Nation!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Judo takes a swing at Nation's ribcage but misses.
Nation swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Judo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nation manages to avoid it.
Judo takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Judo throws a jab when Nation was well out of range.
Nation displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Judo throws out the jab.
Judo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Judo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Nation throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Judo on the side of the head.
Judo scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Nation stuffs the takedown attempt from Judo. Judo gets slowly back to his feet.

Judo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nation is staying active underneath Judo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Judo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Judo is trying to work for a kimura but Nation is defending well.

Nation wants to improve his position but Judo is controlling well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Judo drops back looking for a leg! Nation is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nation manages to kick Judo off! Judo jumps back into Nation's guard.

Judo passes Nation's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Judo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nation sees it coming and defends easily.
Nation works his way to full guard. Good work.
Nation is trying to keep Judo in close.

Nation makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nation.
Judo trying to control the position from guard on top but Nation is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Judo goes for a double leg but Nation avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nation continues to drive forward.
Judo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Nation stuffs the takedown attempt from Judo. Judo gets slowly back to his feet.

Judo stands up over Nation, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Nation lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Judo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nation manages to get himself to full guard.

Judo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Nation manages to get to full guard.

Judo postures up and lands a big shot to Nation's brow.

Judo stands and throws Nation's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Judo tries to score with some ground and pound. Nation controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Judo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nation knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Judo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Judo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Judo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nation as he jumps to the side.
Nation misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Judo.

Nikolai Nation seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Judo takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Judo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nation.
Nation sizes up Judo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Judo throws an overhand right that lands on Nation's shoulder, as Nation tries to avoid the shot.

Judo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nation sprawls well initially but Judo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Judo wants to advance to full mount but Nation doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Judo stands up over Nation, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Nation bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Judo's guard.

Nation won't allow Judo to sweep him here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nation is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Judo.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Judo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
