PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emanuel Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaycen Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jaycen Williams was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Emanuel Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jaycen Williams!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams shoots in but no luck this time.
Williams misses with a combination

and Alexander counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Williams wants to stand back up but Alexander manages to pass into side control.
Alexander controls the position.
Alexander working away.
You can see the frustration on Williams's face as Alexander controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alexander wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Williams, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams is trying to control Alexander's posture but Alexander avoids it.

Williams is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Alexander is controlling him well.

Alexander has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alexander is on top in guard.

Alexander slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Alexander won't allow Williams to get back to his feet.

Williams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alexander gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Alexander gets to his feet. Williams looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Alexander gets a double leg takedown into Williams's guard.
Alexander is standing up over Williams. Williams looks to escape but Alexander dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emanuel Alexander dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Alexander has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Williams throws a head kick that misses.
Williams tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Alexander decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Williams's guard.

Williams is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Alexander presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Williams is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Williams can't get the takedown.

Alexander pulls guard successfully.
Williams wants to stand but Alexander has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Alexander wants to sweep but no luck.
Alexander bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Williams's guard.

Alexander is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Alexander wants to stand but Williams has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Alexander fails with the takedown.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Williams moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Alexander changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Williams tries to avoid it but Alexander manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Williams to the ground. Williams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emanuel Alexander. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alexander is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Williams can do to turn this around?
Alexander misses with a looping left.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alexander instigates a clinch.

Alexander decides to pull guard.
Williams wants to get up but he can't break Alexander's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Emanuel Alexander will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Alexander throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Williams lands a right hook to the body.

Williams manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Alexander on his heels. He'll look to pass Alexander's guard now, I'm sure.
Williams throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alexander works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Alexander wants to stand but Williams is controlling the position.
Alexander might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Alexander lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Williams is working an open guard so Alexander takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Williams drives through and clinches with Alexander against the cage.

Alexander drags the fight down to the ground.
Alexander has his hands on Williams's head, controlling the position.
Alexander looking to hit a scissor sweep but Williams is one step ahead there.

Alexander has control of Williams's left arm, preventing Williams from doing any damage.
Williams has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Alexander is proving hard to escape from.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Alexander is looking to stand up but Williams isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jaycen Williams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Alexander counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Williams is looking to stand back up but Alexander counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Williams.

Well, if Alexander is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Williams wants to improve his position but Alexander is controlling well.

Still in half guard, Alexander seems content to control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Alexander, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
