Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shelby Hamilton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nacho Novo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shelby Hamilton has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Novo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Novo gets tackled into the cage by Hamilton. Hamilton maintains the clinch.

Hamilton manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Novo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Hamilton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hamilton bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Novo's head backwards.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Novo misses with a takedown attempt
and Hamilton counters with a straight right hand.

and Hamilton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Hamilton has his feet on Novo's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Hamilton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Novo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hamilton tries to avoid it but Novo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hamilton to the ground. Hamilton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shelby Hamilton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nacho Novo.

Hamilton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hamilton pulls Novo in close to prevent any damage.
Novo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Novo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Novo tries to free his leg and advance position but Hamilton is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hamilton circles away from the clinch attempt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Novo.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hamilton enables Novo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hamilton manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hamilton is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Novo dives into side control.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Shelby Hamilton will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hamilton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Novo looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Novo cracks Hamilton with a solid left hand.
Hamilton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Novo manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Novo pulls Hamilton in close to his closed guard and prevents Hamilton from doing any damage or advancing position.
Novo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Novo seems to be looking for submissions.

Novo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Novo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

You can see the frustration on Hamilton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Novo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hamilton's shoulder. That is not cool.

Novo is trying to get an arm triangle but Hamilton is defending well.
Hamilton is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hamilton is letting Novo control him for a moment.
Novo wants to control but Hamilton is keeping him busy.

Novo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hamilton has escaped the position, nice work there.

Novo stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Novo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Novo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hamilton tries to keep at a distance but Novo has taken the fight into the clinch.
Novo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hamilton fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Novo dives in and scores a takedown into Hamilton's guard.
Novo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Novo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Nacho Novo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Novo looks to land a combination. Hamilton sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Novo feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Hamilton collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!
