PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Velasco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tyler Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Velasco!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasco throws the left hand but Jensen avoids the punch easily.
Jensen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Velasco.
Velasco takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Jensen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Velasco.
Jensen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Jensen - that will leave a mark!
Jensen throws a hook but Velasco avoids it easily.
A head kick misses from Jensen.
Jensen takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Jensen throws a sloppy head kick and Velasco moves out of range easily.
Jensen throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Velasco jabs Jensen right on the nose. Jensen blinks but takes it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Velasco lands with a shot to the body.
Jensen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Jensen looks to land a right hand but Velasco moved out of range.
Velasco throws a big shot that misses.
Velasco avoids the head kick by Jensen.
Velasco throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Velasco throws a big shot that misses.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Jensen.

Velasco ducks straight into an uppercut from Jensen and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Velasco manages to regain guard straight away.


Velasco is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jensen stays in close to Velasco's body and controls the position.
Velasco is still in real trouble! Can Jensen finish him?
Velasco seems to have recovered his senses.
Jensen looking to pass the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jensen won't allow Velasco to get back to his feet.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Jensen controlling from the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jensen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Jensen closes the distance and clinches.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Velasco.
Velasco takes a shot to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jensen scores with a shoulder strike.
Velasco blocks an uppercut.
Velasco is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jensen keeps control of Velasco as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jensen scores with a shot to the side of Velasco's head.
Velasco wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jensen has him pressed against the cage.
Velasco blocking some punches.
Jensen misses with a body punch.
Jensen prevents Velasco from breaking the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Jensen scores with a nice short uppercut.
Jensen lands with a short head shot on the inside.
A short body shot lands from Jensen as the two fighters clinch.
Velasco's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Jensen content to slow the pace in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jensen scores with a shot to the side of Velasco's head.
Jensen has Velasco pushed against the cage.
Jensen has Velasco pressed against the cage, preventing Velasco from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Jensen.
Jensen tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Velasco avoids it.
Velasco is trying to push Jensen away but Jensen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Jensen pushes Velasco back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jensen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jensen looks to land a combination but Velasco avoids it well.
Jensen connects with a combination that backs up Velasco into the cage. Jensen lands a flurry of punches that gets past Velasco's guard. Velasco is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Jensen bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyler Jensen!
