PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Lincekum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lincekum has chosen BYOB as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tim Lincekum was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeremy Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Lincekum!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lincekum swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Wong counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Lincekum!
Lincekum tries to bench press Wong off him but Wong keeps the position.
Lincekum is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lincekum wants to control but Wong postures up.
Lincekum is trying to improve his position.
Wong throwing shots but missing, from side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lincekum is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lincekum avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Wong.
Lincekum is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Lincekum is trying to control Wong's posture but Wong avoids it.
Lincekum tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wong wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lincekum is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
You can see the frustration on Lincekum's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Wong tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Lincekum is holding Wong down, trying to stall.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lincekum is trying to buck Wong off.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Lincekum manages to get back to half guard.
Lincekum trying to control from the bottom.
Lincekum tries to roll over but Wong keeps him under control.
Lincekum is trying to control but can't.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Lincekum throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tim Lincekum is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wong dodges the punch combination from Lincekum.
Wong seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Lincekum misses with a straight right.
Wong appears to be looking for a big counter.

Nice defenses there by Wong.
Lincekum waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Wong.
Lincekum misses with a two punch combination.
As Lincekum tries to get set, Wong tries to push him back and clinch up but Lincekum manages to avoid the attempt.
Wong needs to keep his hands up - Lincekum had a free shot at his head there.
Lincekum feints a jab promting Wong to slip. Lincekum then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Wong slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Wong with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lincekum to score with a decent uppercut.
Wong takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Wong fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lincekum lands with a right hand.
Lincekum with a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wong throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lincekum looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wong appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lincekum swings for the body but Wong moves out of range.
Wong takes a jab right on the kisser.


Wong is rocked!
Lincekum ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Wong's jaw. Wong's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Lincekum does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tim Lincekum!
