Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alec Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sparky Whiskey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sparky Whiskey!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Winston Howard and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sosa tightens his grip and picks Whiskey up, before dumping him to the ground. Whiskey manages to land in guard.

Sosa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Whiskey defends it well.

Sosa is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Whiskey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sosa is working away from the top position though.
Sosa is nestled in close to Whiskey, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Sosa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Whiskey shoots in but Sosa avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Sosa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Whiskey is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Sosa presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Whiskey isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sosa stacks Whiskey on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sosa!

Sosa is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Whiskey has escaped the position, nice work there.

Whiskey tries to escape but Sosa is in control.
Sosa creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Whiskey sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Sosa lands a decent elbow from side control.

Sosa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sosa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Whiskey is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
You can see the frustration on Whiskey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Sosa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Whiskey, who protects the arm well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Whiskey managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sosa.

Sosa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Whiskey wants to control but Sosa postures up.

Alec Sosa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Whiskey tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Sosa presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Well Sosa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
