The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hangnail has a takedown stuffed.
Welch seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Hangnail gets caught flat footed, as Welch shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Welch controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hangnail manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Welch manages to get himself to full guard.

Hangnail got a little sloppy there for a moment and Welch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hangnail has managed to get both his arms back between Welch's legs - danger averted.

Hangnail tries to bum rush Welch with a series of wild strikes but Welch uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Welch displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hangnail.
It looked like Welch was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Hangnail.
Lee Welch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gandalf Hangnail.

Hangnail connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Welch! He's out on his feet! Hangnail rushes in and drops Welch with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
