The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marques moves into the clinch successfully.

Marques manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Velasquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Marques is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Marques looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Marques lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velasquez wants to sweep here but Marques controlling him for the moment.

Marques not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Marques postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Marques wants to stand but Velasquez is controlling his posture from full guard.
Marques slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Marques stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Velasquez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Marques wants to get up but he can't break Velasquez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Marques is fighting to break Velasquez's control of his arms but Velasquez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Marques passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Velasquez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Velasquez is trying to escape the position but Marques is controlling the position.
Marques connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Velasquez some visible discomfort.

Velasquez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Marques lands a big shot there that rocks Velasquez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Marques connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Marques is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Velasquez is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Velasquez flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Marques anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Velasquez and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Marques slips an arm under Velasquez chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Marques has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Marques is squeezing on Velasquez like an anaconda would it's prey. Velasquez fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
