Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nigel Benn Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Sweeney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Nigel Benn Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Sweeney!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sweeney throws a sloppy head kick and Benn Jr moves out of range easily.
Sweeney stuffs the takedown attempt from Benn Jr. Benn Jr gets slowly back to his feet.
Benn Jr takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A punch combination from Benn Jr misses.

Sweeney gets a clinch.
Benn Jr is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Sweeney to keep the fight standing.

Sweeney escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A combination from Benn Jr does no damage.
Sweeney throws a sloppy head kick and Benn Jr moves out of range easily.
Sweeney fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Benn Jr avoids it really well and circles away.

Benn Jr throws a left and a right that both miss
and Sweeney counters with an outside leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sweeney throws a body shot but no joy.

Benn Jr has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sweeney tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Benn Jr avoids it.

Sweeney manages to break the clinch.
Sweeney looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Benn Jr slaps away a takedown attempt from Sweeney, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nice combo by Benn Jr! Oh, that's hurt him - Sweeney falls to the canvas and Benn Jr follows him into side control.


It looks like Ben Sweeney has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Benn Jr decides to stand back up. Benn Jr steps back and let's Sweeney get back to his feet.

Benn Jr takes the fight into the clinch.
Sweeney landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Sweeney's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Benn Jr rushes Sweeney and presses him up against the cage.

Sweeney pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Benn Jr thuds his shin into the meat of Sweeney's side.

Benn Jr closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sweeney quickly recovers to half guard.
Sweeney looks winded!

Benn Jr stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Benn Jr throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Benn Jr clinches up with Sweeney and pushes him back against the cage.

Benn Jr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Benn Jr gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Benn Jr breaks the clinch.

Oooh a lovely combination from Benn Jr sends Sweeney down but not out. Benn Jr dives into side control looking to finish.
Benn Jr looks up at the clock and then as Sweeney takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Benn Jr smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Benn Jr stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Benn Jr swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sweeney shoots in and drives through. Benn Jr sprawls well.
Benn Jr seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Nigel Benn Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Sweeney.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Benn Jr is putting a hurting on Sweeney here, landing some big shots from side control.

Benn Jr is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sweeney has escaped the position, nice work there.

Benn Jr is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sweeney is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Benn Jr lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Benn Jr content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Benn Jr is trying to get an arm triangle but Sweeney is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
No joy there for Benn Jr, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nigel Benn Jr is winning the standup battle so far.
Benn Jr feints and then cracks Sweeney's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sweeney down.
Benn Jr shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sweeney as he jumps to the side.
Sweeney tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Sloppy strikes from Sweeney. Those never looked like landing.
Benn Jr uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sweeney.

Benn Jr closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sweeney tries to bench press Benn Jr off him but Benn Jr keeps the position.
Sweeney is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Sweeney defending against the ground and pound.
Benn Jr is looking to take a break and control but Sweeney is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Benn Jr has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Benn Jr tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Benn Jr is working for a guillotine from mount but Sweeney frees his head quite easily.

Benn Jr lands a couple of good shots and Sweeney has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Benn Jr lands a shot to the body.
Benn Jr has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Sweeney.
Sweeney covers up after that shot from Benn Jr.
Benn Jr throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Sweeney!
You can see the frustration on Sweeney's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Benn Jr has got one arm under Sweeney's chin. This could be trouble... Sweeney trying to control the other hand but Benn Jr gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Sweeney has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nigel Benn Jr!
Nigel Benn Jr opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
