Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Datsik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Datsik comes to the cage accompanied by Classic. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Smith!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a wild combination.

Datsik throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Datsik throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Datsik tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Datsik.

Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Datsik, pushing him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Datsik's efforts to push away.

Smith has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Datsik clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Smith is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Datsik. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Smith is striking well from the back but Datsik escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Datsik is looking for a kimura but Smith is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Datsik to get the leverage.

Smith looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Datsik with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Datsik keeps working.

Datsik escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jimmy Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Smith tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Datsik is looking to wear down Smith with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Datsik circles away.
Datsik lands a nice looking body shot.
Datsik scores with a crisp jab that stopped Smith in his tracks.

Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard.
Smith stands up over Datsik, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Datsik isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Smith stacks Datsik on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Smith!

Datsik's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
