The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Desainis throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wiley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Desainis is in Wiley's guard.

Desainis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Wiley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

It looks like Desainis might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Desainis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wiley, pushing him back against the cage.
Wiley tries to circle away but Desainis has him pinned against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Desainis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wiley was covering up waiting for the punch and Desainis finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wiley strikes from the bottom but Desainis uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Desainis is working Wiley over with some ground and pound from side control.
Wiley takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Desainis is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Wiley will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Desainis has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Wiley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Desainis on the ground.

Desainis pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Desainis is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Desainis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Desainis lands a big shot there that rocks Wiley but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wiley is desperately trying to improve his position but Desainis has a good base and remains in mount.

Desainis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Wiley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Desainis dives in and scores a takedown into Wiley's guard.

Wiley is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

and Wiley counters with a slapping leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Darren Wiley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Svens Desainis.

Desainis shoots for a double leg takedown but Wiley sprawls well. He's pushed Desainis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
It looked like Wiley was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Desainis.

Svens Desainis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Wiley counters with a stiff right hand.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wiley is defended easily by Desainis.
Desainis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Desainis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Wiley wriggles free and stands up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wiley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Desainis tries to avoid it but Wiley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Desainis to the ground. Desainis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Wiley sets himself, and Desainis steps forward looking for the clinch! Wiley avoids it this time.

Desainis rushes Wiley and presses him up against the cage.

Desainis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Wiley gets caught flat footed, as Desainis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Desainis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Wiley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Desainis's guard.
