Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Micah Madden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Suman Thapa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Micah Madden has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Micah Madden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Suman Thapa!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thapa cracks Madden with a right hand to the side of the head.


It looks like Micah Madden has been cut.
Madden blocks a head kick by Thapa.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Thapa breaks the clinch.
Thapa wants to clinch.
Madden fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thapa avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Madden swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Thapa.
Thapa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Thapa wants it to stay on the feet.

Thapa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Madden manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Thapa blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Thapa has Madden pushed against the cage.

Thapa drags the fight down to the ground.
Thapa seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Thapa controls Madden momentarily but Madden frees himself.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Madden's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Madden landing some decent shots from guard.

Thapa should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Madden throws an elbow that misses. Thapa uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Madden's guard. Nice move by Thapa!

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Thapa has eaten all the pies!
Madden looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Thapa puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Madden is trying to control but can't.
Thapa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Thapa prevents Madden from improving his position.
Thapa not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Madden works his way to full guard. Good work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thapa controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Thapa wants to control from the top but Madden keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thapa fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Madden looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Thapa gets a clinch.

Madden manages to break the clinch.
Madden will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Thapa pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Thapa remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Thapa stands up and beckons Madden to his feet.

Thapa is looking for a kimura but Madden is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Thapa to get the leverage.

Thapa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Madden swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Madden pulls Thapa in close to his closed guard and prevents Thapa from doing any damage or advancing position.

Thapa passes Madden's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Suman Thapa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Thapa lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Thapa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Madden looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thapa is fending him off so far but Madden persists. Nope, Thapa circles away and we're back to standing.

Thapa has hold of Madden's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Madden manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Thapa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Madden is looking to escape.
Madden is looking to improve his position but Thapa isn't that keen on the idea.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Madden regains half guard.
Thapa not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Thapa is just content to waste time from the top position. Madden takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Thapa trying to control the position from guard on top but Madden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Thapa trying to stand up but can't free himself from Madden's guard.
Thapa pushes down on Madden's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Thapa keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Thapa works his foot free and advances to mount.
Thapa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Thapa unloads with some shots from mount but Madden bucks and avoids them well.
Thapa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Madden tries to reverse the position but Thapa maintains control.
Thapa tries to control but Madden wriggling away.
Thapa punching from mount but Madden doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Thapa is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Micah Madden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Suman Thapa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Thapa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Madden throws out the jab.

Suman Thapa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Thapa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
