Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhys Coulthard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruno Thunder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rhys Coulthard!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coulthard misses the shot to the body.
Bruno Thunder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thunder uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Coulthard.
Thunder thinks about countering with a body kick.
Coulthard scores with a shot to the body.
Thunder throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Thunder misses with a takedown
and Coulthard counters with a straight right hand.
Thunder slips a straight right by Coulthard.
Coulthard just misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thunder tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Coulthard counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Thunder doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Coulthard counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Coulthard jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Thunder wants to clinch but Coulthard slips to the side
and Coulthard counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rhys Coulthard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A countering left hand to the body from Coulthard misses.
Thunder shoots in and drives through. Coulthard sprawls well.
Thunder looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Thunder has Coulthard up against the cage in a clinch.
Coulthard lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Coulthard slowing the pace effectively.
The referee calls for Coulthard to work.
Coulthard lands a shoulder strike.
Coulthard misses with a hook to the ribs.
Thunder has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Coulthard is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Thunder is trying to break free.

Coulthard has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Thunder uses from the top position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thunder wanted to stand there but Coulthard had control of the position.

Thunder trying to control the position from guard on top but Coulthard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Thunder throwing strikes but missing.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Coulthard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thunder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Thunder wants to control from the top but Coulthard keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Coulthard just misses with a punch to the body.
Thunder wants to clinch up but Coulthard keeps it at a distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Thunder walks into a stiff left hand from Coulthard.
Thunder ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
As Coulthard looks to move away, Thunder throws a big counter combo but Coulthard just gets out of the way.
Coulthard thuds his right hand into Thunder's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.


It looks like Bruno Thunder has been cut.
Thunder shoots and misses
and Coulthard counters with a straight right hand.
Thunder tries to clinch but Coulthard is having none of it.
Decent striking displayed by Coulthard there.
Thunder doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Thunder misses with a takedown
and Coulthard counters with a nice uppercut.
Coulthard cracks a nice hook into Thunder's ribs.
Thunder scoring well with a low kick there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rhys Coulthard dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bruno Thunder's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Coulthard throws a hook to the side of Thunder's head but Thunder sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Thunder swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Thunder misses with a body punch
and Coulthard counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Coulthard cracks a nice hook into Thunder's ribs.
Coulthard lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Thunder avoids the body shot from Coulthard.
Thunder fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Coulthard counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Coulthard drops Thunder with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Thunder looks back up at him and smiles so Coulthard waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Thunder is rocked!
Coulthard flashes Thunder a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Thunder's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Thunder crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Coulthard punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!
