Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Hudson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Yates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Hudson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Yates!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yates drives through with a takedown into Hudson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Hudson is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Yates presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Yates decides to pull guard.
Yates is trying to keep Hudson in close.
Hudson trying to control the position from guard on top but Yates is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hudson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Yates works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hudson wants to stand and escape but instead Yates has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Hudson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hudson seems keen to control Yates's posture.

Yates is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Yates decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hudson, up you get!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Yates breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hudson is looking to clinch.
Yates lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hudson backs up against the cage.


It looks like Chris Hudson has been cut.

Hudson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Yates to the ground. Hudson is now in Yates's guard.
Yates is looking to stand back up but Hudson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Yates.

Hudson wants to control but Yates is keeping him busy.
Hudson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Hudson prevents Yates from improving his position.

Yates is trying to control but can't.
Hudson wants to stand up but Yates has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Hudson is working for a submission of some sort.
Hudson is trying to control. Yates wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hudson has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Yates works to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yates working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Hudson has passed into half guard!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Yates is looking to improve his position.
Hudson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Yates slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Hudson wanted to stand there but Yates had control of the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Yates is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yates rushes Hudson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Yates has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yates escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Yates throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hudson was covering up waiting for the punch and Yates finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Yates wants to pass the guard but Hudson is keeping the position.
Yates's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Yates shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hudson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Yates is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Aaron Yates showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Yates has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hudson is trying to keep an underhook but Yates manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Yates looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hudson has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Yates escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Yates!
Hudson wants to get back to his feet but Yates drags him back down.
Yates tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hudson is trying to control Yates's posture but Yates avoids it.
Yates misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Yates content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

You can see the frustration on Hudson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Yates gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Yates escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hudson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Yates closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hudson's guard.

Yates must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hudson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Yates can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hudson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Yates is aware though and is defending well.

Aaron Yates comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Yates has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
