A fine choice. Shapiro has chosen The Wackness as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shapiro keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rodriguez.
Rodriguez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rodriguez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shapiro has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Rodriguez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shapiro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
