PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Masaaki Shikuk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yan Khone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shikuk comes to the cage accompanied by O Saya - A.R. Rahman. Yan Khone told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaaki Shikuk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yan Khone!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khone rushes Shikuk and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Shikuk tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Khone just stands there and leans against the cage.
Khone is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Shikuk could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Khone pulls guard successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shikuk looking to pass the guard.
Shikuk passes into half guard.
Khone wants to get back to his feet.

Shikuk is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Khone doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shikuk.
Shikuk not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Khone wants to improve his position but Shikuk is controlling well.
Khone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shikuk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shikuk slows the pace down in half guard.
Shikuk wants to control but Khone is keeping him busy.

Khone wants to control but Shikuk passes into side.

Shikuk working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Shikuk decides to stand up, so the ref orders Khone to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shikuk.
Shikuk tries for a takedown but Khone sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Masaaki Shikuk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shikuk is breathing heavily.
Khone shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Khone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shikuk's waist but Shikuk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Khone off to one side.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shikuk looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Masaaki Shikuk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khone keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Shikuk misses with a body kick.

Khone thuds a left hand into Shikuk's body.

Khone moves into the clinch.
Shikuk stops a takedown attempt from Khone.
Khone wants to get back to striking at distance but Shikuk won't allow it.
Shikuk is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Khone breaks the clinch.
Shikuk tries for a takedown but Khone circles away easily
and Khone counters with a thumping low kick.
Khone misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Shikuk scores a takedown into full mount!
Khone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Shikuk scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Khone?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Khone tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Shikuk looking to finish Khone with some ground and pound. This is bad for Khone!
Shikuk lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Khone is rocked!
Khone is trying to escape the mount.
Khone is still in real trouble! Can Shikuk finish him?

Shikuk lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Shikuk fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Shikuk working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Khone turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Shikuk off and cradles Khone's limp body as Shikuk celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Masaaki Shikuk!
