Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Hudson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charls Hyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charls Hyde!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Hyde misses

and Hudson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hyde won't be happy with that.
Hyde tries to bench press Hudson off him but Hudson keeps the position.

Hudson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
A lazy body kick from Hyde

and Hudson counters with a shoot takedown. Hyde fights it but they end up in guard.

Hyde looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hudson stopping the sweep attempt from Hyde.
Hyde seems keen to control Hudson's posture.
Hyde looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hudson wants to get up but he can't break Hyde's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hyde is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hudson is aware though and is defending well.

Hyde pulls Hudson in close to his closed guard and prevents Hudson from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hudson won't allow Hyde to sweep him here.
Hyde keeping moving, preventing Hudson from controlling successfully.
Hyde pulls Hudson in close to prevent any damage.
Hudson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hudson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hudson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hudson wants to control from the top but Hyde keeps moving.
Hudson wants to stand but Hyde is controlling his posture from full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hyde takes the fight into the clinch.

Hyde breaks from the clinch.

Hyde lands a jab to Hudson's midsection.

Hyde dives in and scores a takedown into Hudson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hyde is looking to stand up but Hudson won't let him.
Hyde passes Hudson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hudson is trying to control but can't.
Hudson really is a fat lump.
Hyde scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Hyde is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hudson is just riding it out for now. Hyde eventually gives up the hold.

Hyde wants to stand up but Hudson is controlling the position.
Hudson trying to control but Hyde postures up.
Hyde works his foot free and advances to mount.
Hyde looking to finish Hudson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Hudson!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hyde takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charls Hyde dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hudson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Chris Hudson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck for Hudson with that takedown attempt.
Hyde with the counter takedown but Hudson avoids it easily.

Hyde shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hyde showed some decent athleticism there.
Hyde has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hudson is looking to control Hyde's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hudson avoid being mounted?
Hyde content to control rather than advance.
Charls Hyde has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hyde looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Hyde tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Hyde perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hyde is pressing down on Hudson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hudson is holding on for now.
Hyde working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hyde wants to pass to mount but Hudson is defending the position.
Hyde not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hyde tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hudson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Hyde stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Hyde shoots in and bounces Hudson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Hudson manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hyde can't break the clinch.
Hudson blocking some punches.

Hyde has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hudson uses from the top position.

Hudson wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Hyde's closed guard. He's half up but Hyde has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Hyde pivots and extends the arm, Hudson falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hyde! Well done that man!
