Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 wins, 5 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Verama!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romanov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Verama counters with a single leg into guard. Romanov didn't expect that.
Verama slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Verama trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Verama trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Verama wants to control from the top but Romanov keeps moving.
Verama engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Verama postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Romanov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Verama, into his guard.

Romanov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Verama, up you get!
Verama's corner calls for a 1-2. Verama obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Verama throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Verama uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Romanov.
Verama looks to land a body kick but Romanov moved away.
Good leg kick by Verama there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Verama works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Romanov on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Romanov throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Romanov throws a series of punches but Verama avoids them all with ease.
Verama rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Romanov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Romanov throws a series of punches but Verama moves out of range.
Verama scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Verama swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Romanov keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Verama throws a lazy right hand but Romanov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

letting Verama counter with a right hand.
Romanov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Verama.

Verama flicks out a counter leg kick but Romanov steps away.
Romanov misses with an uppercut.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Verama.
Romanov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Verama throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Verama closes the distance and clinches.
A short body shot lands from Verama as the two fighters clinch.
Verama swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Romanov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Romanov avoids the head kick by Verama.
The fighters circling - Verama throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A little feinted left hand from Romanov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

and Verama counters with a crisp one two that drops Romanov! Verama thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Romanov to his feet! Romanov is in big trouble!

Romanov is rocked!
An inside leg kick lands from Verama.
Oh Romanov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Verama has managed to clinch.
Romanov is trying to break the clinch but Verama is controlling him.
Verama lands a body punch.
Verama gets through Romanov's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Verama stalling.

Verama breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Romanov on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Verama throws a monster overhand right that drops Romanov! Verama follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hector Verama!
In his post fight interview, Hector Verama started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
