The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanninen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hanninen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Horrible takedown by Hanninen or perhaps it was just good defense by Athrox which made him look bad.
Hanninen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Athrox with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hanninen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Athrox's guard now.
Athrox is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Athrox tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Athrox has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hanninen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Athrox wants to sweep but no luck.
Athrox is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Hanninen frees his head nicely. Oh but Athrox has switched to an armbar! Hanninen is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
