PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bo Paitich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vien Chi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Glorious kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bo Paitich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vien Chi!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chi slips a jab and a cross from Paitich.
Chi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Paitich as he avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Chi or perhaps it was just good defense by Paitich, which made it look bad.
Chi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Paitich manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Paitich shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chi as he avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Chi throws a sloppy head kick and Paitich moves out of range easily.
Chi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Chi closes the distance but Paitich moves to the side

and Paitich counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chi takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Chi is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Chi is in all sorts of trouble here.
Paitich tries to control but Chi wriggling away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chi is wriggling around trying to escape.
Chi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paitich. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Chi wants to escape the position.

Paitich is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Chi knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Chi for a finish.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Paitich tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Chi just stands there and leans against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Chi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chi tries to pull guard but Paitich holds him up against the cage and eventually Chi drops back down to his feet.

Chi lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Paitich or not.

Bo Paitich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vien Chi.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chi manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Vien Chi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Paitich's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Chi lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Paitich backwards.

Chi manages to break the clinch.
Chi pushes Paitich away with a front kick.
Paitich stuffs the takedown.
Chi dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Paitich circles away from the clinch attempt.
Chi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Paitich defends well and Chi ends up having to push Paitich into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Paitich shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chi sprawls well. Chi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Paitich gets slowly back to his feet.

Paitich is working for takedown but Chi is calmly controlling the position for now.

Vien Chi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paitich throws a wild body kick that Chi sees coming a mile off.

Paitich sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Vien Chi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
