Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Luca rushes Cyr and presses him up against the cage.
Cyr tries to land knees in the clinch but Luca avoids the damage to the body.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Cyr.

Cyr has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Luca regains guard immediately.

Cyr could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Cyr is working Luca over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cyr closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Luca to the mat! Luca manages to get full guard.
Cyr postures up in Luca's guard and throws a big left but Luca blocks it.

Cyr takes one on the button.
Luca connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cyr. Cyr circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Cyr drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Luca throws a nice looking combination but Cyr bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Cyr is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Luca can't fight it off and eventually Cyr manages to take the fight to the floor. Luca looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Cyr is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Luca is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Luca darts in and clinches Cyr up against the cage.
Cyr drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Luca gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Cyr throws an elbow but it misses.

Luca misses with some punches.
Luca throws a punch but it's blocked by Cyr.
Luca has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
A head punch on the inside from Luca fails to land.

Cyr tightens his grip and picks Luca up, before dumping him to the ground. Luca manages to land in guard.
Luca is looking to stand up but Cyr isn't so interested in that idea.
Luca is wriggling around but Cyr manages to pass to half guard.
Cyr trying to control the action but Luca is working from the bottom.
Luca tries to get to full guard but Cyr has control of the leg.

Luca is not content to let Cyr control the position.
Luca wants to sweep but Cyr has passed to side control!
Cyr wants to control but Luca is keeping him busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Matt Luca showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Luca can do anything to dispel that myth.
Luca has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cyr is working away from the top position though.
Cyr winds up and cracks Luca with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Cyr thows a huge punch but Luca dodges it nicely.

Cyr lands a couple of good shots and Luca has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Cyr has the hooks in. Luca is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Cyr is really struggling to control Luca but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Cyr lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
