The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gump sprawls well initially but Smith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gump looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Smith decides to stand up.
Gump takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Smith throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gump ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.
Gump doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gump gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith trying to control but Gump is working from the bottom.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Gump is keeping the position.
Gump working for a triangle but Smith defends it easily.
Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gump swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Gump is keeping the position.
Smith postures up and lands a big shot to Gump's brow.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smith forces Gump back against the cage and clinches.
Smith has clasped his hands together around Gump's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
