Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trent Hondo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxx Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel wants to clinch.
Hondo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Steel is fending him off so far but Hondo persists. Nope, Steel circles away and we're back to standing.
Steel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hondo.

and Hondo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Steel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hondo is working away from the top position though.
Hondo with the ground and pound but Steel uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Hondo throws a big right hand that misses.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Steel is on top in guard.

Steel decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hondo, up you get!

Steel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hondo swivels and escapes.

Hondo looks up at the clock and then as Steel takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hondo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Steel is pushing Hondo's head away, looking to escape. Hondo manages to hold on to the position though.
Hondo cracks Steel with a big right hand but Steel just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steel takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hondo tries to move into full mount but can't pass Steel's legs.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Steel bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Steel fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hondo, pushing him back against the cage.

Hondo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hondo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Steel's waist but Steel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hondo off to one side.
Steel drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Steel thuds his right hand into Hondo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Steel keeps the fight on the outside.

and Steel takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hondo throws a sloppy head kick and Steel moves out of range easily.

Steel has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hondo finds it's way round the side to connect with Steel's head.

Hondo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Steel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Steel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hondo to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close second round but I would say that Trent Hondo will probably get the nod.

Hondo is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
