Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Schelack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Johnson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Schelack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schelack feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Schelack changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Johnson working for a triangle but Schelack defends it easily.
Johnson wants to sweep here but Schelack controlling him for the moment.
Johnson is controlling Schelack's posture.
Johnson keeping moving, preventing Schelack from controlling successfully.
Schelack has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.
Schelack is breathing heavily.

Johnson working for a triangle but Schelack defends it easily.

Johnson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Schelack would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Johnson has Schelack pulled in close to control his posture.
Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Johnson is pulling down on Schelack's head to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Schelack has picked Johnson up and slammed him! Johnson can't keep hold of the triangle and Schelack manages to pass to side control!
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schelack wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Johnson stops Schelack from passing to mount.

Schelack decides to stand up, so the ref orders Johnson to his feet.
Schelack avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Schelack shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
Schelack throws a looping overhand right but Johnson ducks down to avoid it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Johnson connects with a nice looking jab.

Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Schelack is trying to improve his position.
Johnson slows the pace down.
Schelack tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Johnson manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Schelack looking for a takedown.
Johnson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Schelack lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
A bit of stalling here from Johnson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Schelack tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Johnson smiles and moves away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Johnson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Johnson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Schelack drops down looking for an ankle pick but Johnson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Johnson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Johnson throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Schelack tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Schelack jumps guard and drags Johnson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Schelack trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
Schelack looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there.
Schelack is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up.
Johnson won't allow Schelack to sweep him here.
Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Schelack is striking from the bottom but Johnson uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson is controlling the pace.
Schelack is looking for a sweep. Johnson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Schelack trying to hold on to Johnson's head to control him but Johnson postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Schelack has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.

Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schelack manages to get himself to full guard.

Schelack pushes Johnson off looking to stand but Johnson dives back in and keeps control.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Schelack has escaped the position, nice work there.
Schelack tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Schelack wants to control but Johnson postures up.
Schelack tries to buck Johnson off but Johnson is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Johnson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Schelack is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up.
Schelack wants to stand up but Johnson is controlling him.

Schelack not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Johnson stays in close to Schelack's body and controls the position.
Johnson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but instead Schelack has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Schelack stands and throws Johnson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Jack Schelack has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Johnson can't do much from the bottom here.

John Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
