PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Mccall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malaki Major (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Major is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by House of Pain - On Point. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gavin Mccall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Malaki Major!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mccall slips a straight right by Major.
Mccall throws a combination. Major tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
The crowd cheers as Mccall lands an impressive looking overhand right. Major doesn't seem phased though.
Major keeps the fight on the outside.
Mccall tries to close the distance and clinch but Major swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Major has taken the fight to the clinch.
Major lands a left hand.
Major scores with a nice hook to the head.
Mccall jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Major walks away with a smile on his face. Mccall gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Major misses with a jab, cross combination.
Major swats away the attempt to clinch by Mccall.
Mccall lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Major circles away quickly and effectively.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Major throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Major is pushing Mccall up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
With the fighters up against the cage, Major throws an elbow but misses.

Major pulls guard successfully.
Mccall being controlled here momentarily.
Major really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mccall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Major throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Major digs a right hand underneath Mccall's ribcage. Mccall let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Mccall is breathing heavily.

Major is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mccall can't fight it off and eventually Major manages to take the fight to the floor. Mccall looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mccall will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Major is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mccall is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mccall has escaped and now he's on top!

Mccall has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Major looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mccall puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Major can do anything to dispel that myth.

A close round but Malaki Major will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looked like Mccall was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Mccall really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gavin Mccall will probably get the nod.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Major throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mccall was covering up waiting for the punch and Major finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Major is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Major wants the takedown. Mccall is fighting it off but Major persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Mccall's guard against the cage.
