Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyrone Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyrone Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Allen!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin with a poor takedown
and Allen counters with a two punch combo.
No luck for Allen with that takedown attempt.

Allen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Griffin is wriggling around but Allen manages to pass to half guard.

Griffin trying to control but Allen postures up.

Allen stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Griffin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Allen, pushing him back against the cage.
Allen fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Griffin manages to break the clinch.
Griffin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Allen circles away.
Griffin lands the left hand.

Allen instigates a clinch.

Allen has clasped his hands together around Griffin's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Allen slows the pace down.
Allen is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Griffin looking for a sweep but Allen has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Allen has hold of Griffin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Griffin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Allen working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Griffin is bucking up trying to escape but Allen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Griffin wants to control but Allen is having none of it.
Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Allen on the ground.

Allen is working for a guillotine from mount but Griffin frees his head quite easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Allen content just to control the position here.
Allen avoids the attempt from Griffin to control.

Griffin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Griffin tries to get out of the position.

Allen stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Allen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Allen showed some decent athleticism there.
Allen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Griffin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Allen shows good takedown defense.

Allen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Griffin gets tackled into the cage by Allen. Allen maintains the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Griffin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Allen gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Allen fails to pull guard.

Allen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Allen feints and as Griffin raises his hands in defense, Allen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Allen gets to his feet. Griffin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Griffin!
Griffin lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Griffin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Griffin shoots for a takedown but Allen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Griffin connects with a high kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Allen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Allen wants to pass the guard but Griffin is defending well.
Allen scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Allen passes into side control, despite Griffin's attempt to control the position.
Griffin is trying to escape the position but Allen is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allen working away.
Allen creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Allen working the ground and pound from side control.
Allen cracks Griffin with a big elbow.
A lull in the action here.

Griffin struggling a bit here.

Allen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Griffin can't do much from the bottom here.
Allen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffin keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Allen moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Allen trying to control the position but Griffin is working away.

Allen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Allen in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Allen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Griffin is looking to clinch.
Allen moves in looking to clinch but Griffin pushes him off.
Allen tries to close the distance and clinch but Griffin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Tyrone Griffin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Griffin misses with a double jab
and Griffin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Griffin lands with a shot to the body.
Griffin feints and then cracks Allen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Allen down.
Allen takes a kick to the side of the head.
Griffin wants to clinch up but Allen keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Griffin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Allen circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Allen.
Griffin swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Allen throws a leg kick but Griffin sees it coming and moves out of range.

Allen takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Allen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Griffin napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Griffin is looking to get back to his feet here but Allen is keeping cool and he's managed to take Griffin's back.
Allen tries to get the hooks in deep but Griffin pushed the leg off.
Allen has good solid back control here.
Griffin tries to escape but Allen has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Can Griffin hold on?! Allen is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Griffin is in bad spot here.

Allen is cranking Griffin's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Griffin! He's tightened the choke and Griffin is tapping out!
