PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jan Sobieski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raven Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sobieski comes to the cage accompanied by Kto Cię Obroni Polsko. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jan Sobieski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raven Harris!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sobieski.
Sobieski slips a jab and a cross from Harris.
Sobieski tries to clinch but Harris moves away

and Harris counters with a right hand that sends Sobieski tumbling to the canvas! Can Harris finish him? He dives into Sobieski's guard looking to do just that!
Sobieski is trying to keep Harris in close.

Sobieski is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Harris defends well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Harris controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Sobieski is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harris is aware though and is defending well.
Harris trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sobieski's guard.
Harris must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sobieski looking for a sweep. Not yet Sobieski, not yet.

Harris controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Sobieski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harris can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Harris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Sobieski throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Harris escapes and throws Sobieski's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Harris takes a little break here. Sobieski wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sobieski is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Harris's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Sobieski gets full guard.
Sobieski tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sobieski has Harris pulled in close to control his posture.
Harris wanted to stand there but Sobieski had control of the position.

Sobieski throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Harris escapes and throws Sobieski's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Sobieski struggling a bit here.
Sobieski might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sobieski is looking for a sweep.
Sobieski is trying to control Harris's posture but Harris avoids it.
You can see the frustration on Sobieski's face as Harris controls the position.

Harris has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Sobieski lands the left hand.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Harris - that will leave a mark!
Sobieski is breathing heavily.

Sobieski ducks straight into an uppercut from Harris and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Sobieski manages to regain guard straight away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Harris wants to get up but he can't break Sobieski's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Harris slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Sobieski.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Harris in particular looking to stall.
Sobieski tries to get to full guard but Harris has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raven Harris dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Harris takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Harris's jab looks to have found its range, popping Sobieski under the eye.
Raven Harris seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Harris wants to clinch.
Sobieski thinks about countering with a head kick.
Harris steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Sobieski is out on his feet! Harris sets himself and nearly takes Sobieski's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Raven Harris!
