PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wilmer Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivor Biggen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivor Biggen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wilmer Padilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ivor Biggen!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Biggen shoots in and bounces Padilla off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Biggen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Biggen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Padilla sprawls well initially but Biggen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Biggen is taking a breather. Padilla says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Padilla is staying active underneath Biggen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Padilla controlling the position for now.
Padilla wants to control but Biggen is keeping busy.

Biggen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Padilla defending well though.
Biggen tries to stand but can't do so whilst Padilla controls his leg.
Biggen seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Padilla keeping hold of Biggen's head, controlling as best he can.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Biggen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Biggen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Biggen trying to control from half guard but Padilla is working away.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Padilla has a hand on Biggen's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Biggen takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Padilla is looking to improve his position but Biggen isn't that keen on the idea.
Padilla blocking the ground and pound.
Biggen avoids the attempt from Padilla to control.
Biggen postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Padilla looks a forlorn figure.


It looks like Wilmer Padilla has been cut.

Biggen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Padilla can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Padilla is working to get back to half guard.

Biggen wants to finish this one by submission but Padilla is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Biggen.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Biggen looking to control but Padilla is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Biggen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Biggen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Padilla keeps working.

Biggen decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Padilla shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Padilla showed some decent athleticism there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Biggen works his way to full guard. Good work.
Biggen is trying to control the position but Padilla postures up.

Padilla postures up in Biggen's guard and throws a big left but Biggen blocks it.
Padilla really is a fat lump.
Biggen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Padilla manages to get himself to full guard.

Padilla is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Biggen advances position into side control!
Padilla parries the strikes from Biggen easily there. Biggen is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Padilla to escape.
Ivor Biggen has got the better of the ground game so far.

Biggen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Padilla to his feet.

Biggen content to control rather than advance.
Biggen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Biggen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Padilla does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, if Biggen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Biggen is looking to take a break and control but Padilla is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Biggen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Biggen wants to take a breather but Padilla is having none of it.
Biggen lands strikes from half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Biggen content to control rather than advance.
Biggen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Padilla does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Biggen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Padilla defends it well.
Biggen is taking a breather. Padilla says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Biggen wants to work for an arm triangle but Padilla is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Biggen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Padilla half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Biggen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Padilla tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Biggen is in Padilla's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivor Biggen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Padilla drops his hands momentarily and Biggen needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Padilla just on the top of the head. Padilla drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Padilla - he's done!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ivor Biggen!
