Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominick Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Paul could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dominick Halo's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dominick Halo!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halo shoots in for a double leg but Paul sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Halo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Paul jabs Halo right on the nose. Halo blinks but takes it well.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Paul, as that shot connected.
Halo misses with a hook
and Halo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Paul fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paul catches Halo with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Halo throws a hook to the side of Paul's head but Paul sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Paul throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Halo on the side of the head.
Halo misses with an uppercut. Paul saw that one coming.
A little feinted left hand from Paul on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Halo throws a nice looking combination but Paul bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
It looked like Paul wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Halo has his takedown stuffed
and Halo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Halo scores with a shot to the body.
Halo misses with an uppercut. Paul saw that one coming.
Paul is looking to counter punch.
Halo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Halo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Paul tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Halo is in Paul's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Paul is looking to stand up but Halo isn't so interested in that idea.
Paul looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Paul throws a jab but it's blocked by Halo.
Paul throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Halo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
And Halo tries to counter it with a takedown but Paul pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Paul throws a looping overhand right but Halo ducks down to avoid it.
Halo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Paul shoots in looking for a takedown but Halo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Paul's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Paul. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Halo misses with a hook

and Paul counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Paul winds up and cracks Halo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

That was a close round but I would say that John Paul will probably get the nod.

Paul has been working on his balance at ReVoLuT!oN !sL@nD GYM, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Halo.
Nice uppercut lands for Paul. That snapped Halo's head back.
Halo is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Paul paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Paul dives in and grabs Halo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Halo pushes down on Paul's head and hops out.

Paul keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Paul looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Halo!
Halo regains half guard.
Paul tries to pass to full mount but Halo defends it.
Paul knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Halo on the ground.
Paul is thwarting Halo's attempts to control the position.
Paul wants to control but Halo is keeping him busy.

Paul is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Halo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Halo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Halo.
Dominick Halo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Halo wants to sweep here but Paul controlling him for the moment.
Halo trying to keep a closed guard but Paul is proving a slippery customer.

Halo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Paul is looking to work some ground and pound but Halo has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paul accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Halo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Paul.

Paul lands with an uppercut that bounces Halo off the cage and back into range.

Paul drops Halo with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Halo looks back up at him and smiles so Paul waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Halo is rocked!
Halo gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Paul points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Halo wakes up just in time to hear Paul thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Paul!
John Paul took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'God bless'.
