Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Samuel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshihyro Uno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samuel comes to the cage accompanied by Imma Do It. George Samuel has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Samuel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yoshihyro Uno!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uno tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Samuel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Samuel thows a body shot but no joy.
Uno looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Uno closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Uno lands in his opponent's guard.
Uno looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Samuel throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Uno trying to control but Samuel is working from the bottom.
Uno loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Samuel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Uno can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Uno sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Samuel has momentary wrist control but Uno slips an elbow through the middle.
Samuel trying to keep a closed guard but Uno is proving a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Uno counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Uno throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Samuel looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Uno sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Samuel keeping moving, preventing Uno from controlling successfully.
Uno keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Samuel's head.
Uno trying to control the position from guard on top but Samuel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Samuel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Samuel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Uno has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Samuel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Uno is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Samuel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Samuel has escaped and now he's on top!
Uno wants to get back to his feet but Samuel is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Uno has his foot on Samuel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Samuel works his way back into a safe position though.
Uno looks gassed!

Uno looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Samuel stands up from Uno's guard - Samuel perhaps looking for a knockout.
Yoshihyro Uno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Samuel dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Uno. That did some damage!
Samuel fakes the leg kick and cracks Uno in the body.
Samuel throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Uno's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Samuel moves into the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Samuel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Samuel throws a right and a left that Uno avoids nicely.
Uno gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Samuel counters with a thumping low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that George Samuel will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Samuel pushes Uno up against the cage in a clinch.
Uno tries for a takedown but Samuel manages to get underhooks.
Samuel will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Uno up against the cage.
Uno is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Samuel pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Uno wants a takedown but no success here.
George Samuel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshihyro Uno.

Samuel jumps into guard, dragging Uno to the mat.
Samuel tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Samuel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Samuel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Uno is one step ahead there.
Samuel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Uno on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Uno lands a couple of digs.
Samuel controls Uno momentarily but Uno frees himself.
Samuel working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Uno.
Samuel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Uno manages to get himself to full guard.

Uno had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Samuel is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Uno Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Samuel's back instead.
Samuel turns into Uno and is now in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Samuel landing with the ground and pound.

Uno has an active guard here but Samuel has managed to pass into half guard.
Samuel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Uno keeps working.

Samuel seems to be looking for submissions.
Samuel has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Samuel breaks from Uno's wrist control and lands an elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Samuel avoids the attempt from Uno to control.
Samuel landing shots from mount.
Samuel raining down shots from the mount!
Uno is desperately trying to improve his position but Samuel has a good base and remains in mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Uno is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
BOOM! Samuel connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Samuel scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Samuel looking to finish Uno with some ground and pound. This is bad for Uno!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Samuel trying to control but Uno is having none of it.
Samuel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Uno is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Samuel prevents Uno from getting the reversal.
Samuel sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Samuel dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Uno has his takedown stuffed
and Samuel counters with a one-two to the body.

Uno shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Samuel trying to hold on to Uno's head to control him but Uno postures up.
Samuel tries to kick Uno off but Uno keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Samuel manages to get to full guard.
Samuel keeping moving, preventing Uno from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Uno is stalling in the full guard.
Samuel looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Samuel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Uno scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Samuel managing to control the position.
Samuel controls Uno momentarily but Uno frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Uno drops back, looking for a kneebar! Samuel looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Samuel looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Samuel!

Samuel tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Uno is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Samuel's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Uno is refusing to be controlled, as Samuel sits in half guard.
Samuel is looking to stall here but Uno recovers full guard.

Uno working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Samuel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Samuel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Samuel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Samuel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Samuel looking to sit in guard and control but Uno gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Uno stands and steps away. Samuel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Uno misses with a kick to the body
and Samuel counters with a big head kick but Uno shrugs it off.

Uno shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Samuel tries to lock up and control but Uno gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Uno unloading with bombs!
Samuel is wriggling around trying to escape.

Uno working for a submission but Samuel is keeping him at bay.
Yoshihyro Uno has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
George Samuel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Uno lands a big shot there that rocks Samuel but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yoshihyro Uno comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Samuel has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
