Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Wallace!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo swings widly with a right hand
and Wallace connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wallace has been working on his boxing with his coaches at SinPro Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Wallace swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Aldo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wallace was covering up waiting for the punch and Aldo finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Aldo trying to control but Wallace is working from the bottom.
Aldo wants to pass the guard but Wallace is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aldo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Aldo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wallace working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Aldo.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aldo content to stall in guard here.
Aldo throwing strikes from guard but Wallace blocks nicely.
Aldo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Aldo avoids a punch combination nicely.

Aldo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wallace quickly recovers to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Aldo throwing shots but Wallace is blocking nicely.
Wallace on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wallace tries to get out of the position.
Aldo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Aldo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Aldo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Wallace defend it? Aldo steps over the head and cranks it - Wallace is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Aldo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jose Aldo!

Jose Aldo decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
