Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ezequiel Wilkinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ezequiel Wilkinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn moves into the clinch.
Penn looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Wilkinson leaning against his opponent.
Knees to the body from Penn.
Wilkinson is pressed up against the cage. Penn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wilkinson down to the mat. Wilkinson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Wilkinson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Wilkinson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Penn has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wilkinson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Penn looks winded!

Wilkinson drags the fight down to the ground.

Wilkinson pushes Penn off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The fighters circle momentarily. Wilkinson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Wilkinson closes the distance and clinches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Penn looking to throw knees to the head but Wilkinson is blocking nicely.

Wilkinson jumps guard and drags Penn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Penn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wilkinson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Penn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Penn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wilkinson's guard.

Wilkinson makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Wilkinson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wilkinson tries to counter with a takedown but Penn is quick to defend against it.
Penn scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Wilkinson lands a leg kick that knocks Penn off balance momentarily.
Wilkinson connects with a high kick.
Wilkinson fails with a takedown attempt.
Penn tries to counter with a clinch but Wilkinson shakes him off and moves away.

Wilkinson instigates a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wilkinson tries to pull guard but Penn forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Penn putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Wilkinson in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wilkinson manages to break the clinch.
Wilkinson throws a head kick that misses.
Wilkinson shoots for a double leg takedown but Penn sprawls well. He's pushed Wilkinson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
As Wilkinson backs off Penn throws a huge counter combo but Wilkinson manages to avoid it all.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ezequiel Wilkinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Penn throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Wilkinson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Penn goes for a takedown attempt but Wilkinson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Wilkinson successfully pulls guard.
Wilkinson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Penn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Wilkinson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Penn is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn trying to stand up but can't free himself from Wilkinson's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Wilkinson stalks Penn and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Penn's face. Penn staggers backwards, shaken.
Wilkinson moves out of range of the body kick.

Wilkinson has Penn up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ezequiel Wilkinson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A punch combination from Penn misses.
Penn throws a leg kick but Wilkinson moved away.
Wilkinson is looking for a counter combo.
Penn darts in looking for a takedown but Wilkinson gets double underhooks and turns Penn into the cage.

and Wilkinson counters with a one-two to the body.


Penn is rocked!

Wilkinson closes the distance looking for a takedown. Wilkinson picks Penn up and slams him brutally to the floor. Penn is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Ezequiel Wilkinson!
