PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon The Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Schmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Schmo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schmo clinches.
The Hammer blocks a body shot from Schmo.
The Hammer has had enough of the clinch but Schmo keeps him there for the moment.

Schmo gets a trip takedown into half guard.

The Hammer kicks Schmo off and gets back to his feet.

The Hammer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Schmo on his heels. He'll look to pass Schmo's guard now, I'm sure.
The Hammer definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The Hammer is trying to break the clinch but Schmo has him pressed against the cage.

The Hammer has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Schmo is trying to keep an underhook but The Hammer manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Schmo wants to sweep but The Hammer has passed to side control!
Schmo is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Schmo wants to control but The Hammer postures up.
Schmo tries to buck The Hammer off but The Hammer is having none of it.

Schmo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Hammer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Schmo looks to move to half guard but instead The Hammer has passed into mount! Damn!
The Hammer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Schmo is looking to escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schmo wants to control but The Hammer is having none of it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Schmo misses the shot to the body.

The Hammer looking to score a takedown here. Schmo is defending well but The Hammer drives through and ends up in Schmo's guard.

The Hammer stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Hammer can't do much from the bottom here.

Schmo looks up at the clock and then as The Hammer takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Schmo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Schmo lands a strong strike to the head of The Hammer. That's dazed him! Schmo looking to finish here. The Hammer is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Schmo lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
