Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alec Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alec Sosa has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alec Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edwards decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sosa is trying to get back to full guard.
Sosa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sosa.
Edwards not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Sosa wants to control but Edwards is having none of it.
Sosa is squirming around, avoiding Edwards's attempts to control the action.

Sosa tries to lock up and control but Edwards gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Edwards shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Edwards was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Edwards thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sosa is trying to get back to half guard.
A lull in the action here.
Sosa tries to improve position but can't.

Edwards wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sosa keeps working.
Sosa is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Edwards asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Sosa is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Edwards's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Sosa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Edwards is working away from the top position though.
Edwards tries to stand and escape but Sosa is controlling the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Edwards slips a nice elbow through Sosa's hands, connecting with Sosa's forehead.
Sosa is looking to improve his position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Edwards stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Sosa throws a strike but Edwards rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Edwards wants to take the fight to the mat but Sosa manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Edwards tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sosa just stands there and leans against the cage.

Eddie Edwards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Sosa counters with a head kick.
Sosa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Edwards but Edwards pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sosa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Edwards looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sosa is putting a hurting on Edwards here, landing some big shots from side control.
Sosa lands a few punches from side control.
Edwards tries to buck Sosa off but Sosa is having none of it.

Sosa is trying to get an arm triangle but Edwards is defending well.
Sosa lands a nice forearm strike.
Sosa works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Edwards tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Sosa easily slips into full mount!

Sosa lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Sosa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Edwards can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Edwards is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's time! Sosa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Sosa manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Edwards on his heels. He'll look to pass Edwards's guard now, I'm sure.

Edwards throws the kick towards the body but Sosa avoids it.
Edwards takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Edwards jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sosa walks away with a smile on his face. Edwards gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Sosa wants the takedown. Edwards is fighting it off but Sosa persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Edwards's guard against the cage.

Sosa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sosa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alec Sosa.
I think Sosa has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
