The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dikunov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Dikunov throws a strike but Mcconnell avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Dikunov lands a couple of digs.
Dikunov connects with a couple of short punches.
Dikunov working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Dikunov postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcconnell wants to sweep but no luck.
Mcconnell is trying to control the position but Dikunov postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcconnell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dikunov controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dikunov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dikunov trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcconnell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mcconnell wants to get back to his feet but Dikunov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Dikunov with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Dikunov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Mcconnell is rocked!
Dikunov arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Mcconnell's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
