Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Francisco Winters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Smokie Cox!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Winters scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Cox's face as Winters controls the position.

Winters is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cox has escaped the position, nice work there.
Winters misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Cox wants to get back to his feet but Winters drags him back down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Winters wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cox, who protects the arm well.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Cox is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Winters has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smokie Cox is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cox pushes Winters up against the cage in a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Cox scores with a nice short uppercut.
Cox taking a breather.
Winters is looking to take this one to the mat.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Winters.

Winters manages to break the clinch.
Winters shoots in looking for a takedown. Cox tries to sprawl out of it but Winters keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cox manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cox closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cox is looking to break free of the clinch but Winters has double underhooks.
Winters tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cox smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Francisco Winters. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cox getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Cox jabs Winters right on the nose. Winters blinks but takes it well.


Winters is rocked!
Cox catches Winters with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Winters forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
